👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Soak the bread
- Tear up the bread and soak it in milk until soft.
- Squeeze out the excess milk and crumble it into a bowl.
2️⃣ Mix the meatball base
- Add the ground meat, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, pepper, parsley, and the soaked bread.
- Mix everything by hand until well combined.
- If the mixture feels too soft, add a little breadcrumb to firm it up.
3️⃣ Shape the meatballs
- Roll into small balls or oval patties (about the size of a golf ball).
- Coat each one lightly in flour.
4️⃣ Fry until golden
- Heat oil or lard in a large skillet.
- Fry the meatballs over medium heat, turning occasionally, until they’re browned and cooked through (about 8–10 minutes).
5️⃣ Serve
Serve warm with:
🥔 Mashed potatoes or rice
🥒 Pickled cucumbers or cabbage salad
🍞 Or even inside a fresh Hungarian bread roll for a Fasírt sandwich!
💡 Ashley’s Tips
- Add a spoonful of mustard to the mixture for a deeper flavor.
- To make them lighter, you can bake the meatballs at 375°F (190°C) for about 25 minutes instead of frying.
- Serve them with a tomato or paprika sauce on top for a more festive dish!

These classic Hungarian meatballs are full of paprika, garlic, and love ❤️
Perfect with mashed potatoes or tucked into a warm roll! 😋✨
Would you like me to include a Hungarian-style tomato sauce to serve over them — like the one grandmas make with onions, paprika, and a touch of sugar? It turns them into an even more comforting Sunday meal 🍅🍽️
