
🥣 Instructions:
1. Make the dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tsp sugar in warm milk. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
- Add yeast mixture, eggs, butter, and vanilla.
- Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Shape the cakes:
- Roll the dough into a rectangle about ½ cm (¼ inch) thick.
- Cut into long strips, about 2–3 cm (1 inch) wide.
- Wrap the strips around a greased cylindrical form (like a wooden rolling pin or metal cone). Overlap slightly.
3. Add toppings:
- Brush lightly with melted butter, then roll in sugar, cinnamon, or nuts.
4. Bake:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Place the cylinders on a baking tray.
- Bake 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized.
- Remove from form and let cool slightly.
