🔥 Instructions
1. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
2. Cut in the Butter
Add the cold butter and cut it in using your fingers or a pastry cutter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
3. Add Water & Form Dough
Pour in the warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead gently for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
4. Rest the Dough (Important!)
Cover and let sit 15 minutes.
This helps the dough roll out thinly without shrinking.
5. Roll Out Thin
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough very thin — almost paper thin.
The thinner the dough = the crispier the cracker.
6. Cut into Saltine Squares
Use a pizza cutter to slice into small squares.
Poke holes in each cracker with a fork (classic saltine texture).
7. Bake
Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt.
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until lightly golden and crisp.
8. Cool Completely
They will crisp up even more as they cool.
❤️ Optional Flavor Variations
- Garlic Butter Saltines: Add ½ tsp garlic powder to dough + brush with garlic butter.
- Herb Saltines: Sprinkle dried rosemary or oregano before baking.
- Extra Buttery: Brush again with melted butter right out of the oven.
