Gombóc (Hungarian Plum Dumplings) 🇭🇺


Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes until tender. Peel and mash, then let cool.
  2. Mix potatoes with egg, salt, and flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Roll dough on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  4. Place a plum in the center of each square. Fill plum centers with a little sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Wrap dough around plums and seal well.
  6. Boil dumplings in salted water until they float, then cook 3–4 more minutes.
  7. In a pan, toast breadcrumbs in butter until golden.
  8. Roll cooked dumplings in toasted breadcrumbs.
  9. Sprinkle with sugar before serving.
