Hungarian-Style Cucumber Salad 🥒

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 2 medium cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp sour cream or plain yogurt (optional)
  • Fresh dill, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare cucumbers:
    Slice cucumbers thinly. Sprinkle with salt and let sit 10 minutes to draw out excess water. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Mix dressing:
    In a bowl, combine vinegar, sugar, and pepper. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  3. Combine salad:
    Add cucumbers and onion to the dressing. Toss to coat evenly.
  4. Optional creamy version:
    Stir in sour cream or yogurt and chopped dill for a creamy cucumber salad.
  5. Chill & serve:
    Refrigerate at least 15–20 minutes before serving for best flavor.
