Ingredients

Cupcakes

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk

Chocolate Swirl

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp milk

Chocolate Filling

  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chocolate spread

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk until smooth.
  5. Divide batter in half. Mix cocoa powder and 2 tbsp milk into one half.
  6. Spoon vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into liners. Swirl gently with a toothpick.
  7. Add 1 teaspoon chocolate chips or spread to the center of each cupcake and lightly cover with batter.
  8. Bake 18–22 minutes until set. Cool slightly before serving.
