Hungarian Cottage Cheese Pie (Túrós Pite) – Don’t Lose This Recipe!

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 500 g flour
  • 200 g butter or lard
  • 100 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2–3 tbsp sour cream or milk
  • Pinch of salt

Filling:

  • 500 g cottage cheese (túró)
  • 2–3 eggs
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2–3 tbsp semolina or breadcrumbs (optional)
  • Raisins (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, butter, eggs, and sour cream into a soft dough.
  2. Divide dough into two parts and roll out.
  3. Mix filling ingredients until creamy.
  4. Place one dough layer in a baking tray.
  5. Spread cottage cheese filling evenly.
  6. Cover with second dough layer.
  7. Bake at 180°C for 35–40 minutes until golden.
  8. Let cool, then cut into squares.
