
🧾 Ingredients:
For the layers:
- 2 sheets puff pastry
For the custard filling:
- 1 liter milk
- 6 egg yolks
- 150 g sugar
- 80 g cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the meringue layer (optional but traditional):
- 6 egg whites
- 100 g sugar
For topping:
- Powdered sugar

👩🍳 Instructions:
- Bake pastry:
Roll out puff pastry sheets and bake separately at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until golden. Let cool.
- Make custard:
Heat milk with vanilla until warm. - In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch.
- Slowly add warm milk while whisking, then return to low heat.
- Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth. Do not boil.
- Prepare meringue (optional):
Beat egg whites until foamy. - Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
- Combine:
Fold meringue gently into warm custard for a lighter texture.
- Assemble:
Place one pastry sheet in a tray. - Spread custard evenly over it.
- Top with second pastry sheet (you can pre-cut it for easier slicing).
- Chill:
Refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours until set.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
