For the walnut sponge:
- 6 eggs (separated)
- 150 g sugar
- 200 g finely ground walnuts
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
For the cream:
- 200 g butter (softened)
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1–2 tbsp rum (optional)
Optional syrup (for moist layers):
- 100 ml water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp rum or lemon juice
