Hungarian Christmas Walnut Cookies (Hókifli)

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 200 g (3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) unsalted butter, cold
  • 100 g (1/2 cup) ground walnuts
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt

For coating:

  • 100 g (3/4 cup) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar (optional)
