  • 2 sheets puff pastry

Custard Filling

  • 1 L milk
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 150 g sugar
  • 100 g cornstarch (or custard powder)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Top

  • 200 ml heavy cream (optional)
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Bake puff pastry sheets at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until golden. Let cool.
  2. In a bowl whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch.
  3. Heat milk until warm, then slowly add to the mixture while stirring.
  4. Return to heat and cook until thick custard forms.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Place one pastry sheet in a pan.
  7. Spread hot custard evenly on top.
  8. (Optional) Add whipped cream layer.
  9. Place second pastry sheet on top.
  10. Chill for 2–3 hours.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
