Hungarian Poppy Seed Puff Pastry Cookies (Mákos Leveles Süti)

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 150 g ground poppy seeds
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 3–4 tbsp milk
  • powdered sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Mix ground poppy seeds, sugar, vanilla sugar and milk to make a thick filling.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into small rectangles.
  3. Put a small spoon of poppy seed filling in the center.
  4. Fold the sides slightly over the filling.
  5. Place on a baking tray with baking paper.
  6. Bake at 180°C for 15–20 minutes until golden.
  7. Let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
