Hungarian Sauerkraut Noodle Casserole (Rakott Káposztás Tészta)

Ingredients

  • 400 g egg noodles
  • 500 g sauerkraut (drained)
  • 150 g bacon or smoked sausage (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • salt and black pepper
  • 200 ml sour cream

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles in salted water and drain.
  2. In a pan cook bacon and onion until golden.
  3. Add sauerkraut and paprika, cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Mix the sauerkraut mixture with the noodles.
  5. Place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with sour cream on top.
