Christmas Walnut Crescent Cookies (Hókifli) 🇭🇺

Ingredients

  • 250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 200 g (¾ cup) butter, softened
  • 100 g (½ cup) ground walnuts
  • 80 g (⅓ cup) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For coating

  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl mix butter and powdered sugar until creamy.
  3. Add flour, ground walnuts, vanilla, and salt and mix into a soft dough.
  4. Take small pieces of dough and roll them into small crescent (half-moon) shapes.
  5. Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. While still warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar.
