
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Oil for frying
Toppings (classic):
- Minced garlic mixed with a little water
- Sour cream
- Grated cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, warm water, and oil.
- Knead until smooth and soft (about 5–7 minutes).
- Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Divide dough into 4 pieces. Shape each into a flat round (about ½ inch thick).
- Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry each piece 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Rub with garlic water, spread sour cream, and sprinkle with cheese. Serve warm.
