Simple Homemade Cookies – Quick & Easy

Ingredients (Makes ~12–15 cookies)

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup (100 g) sugar
  • ½ cup (110 g) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
  4. Combine: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Stir until just combined. Fold in optional mix-ins.
  5. Shape cookies: Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake: 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  7. Cool & serve: Let cookies cool on the sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
