🇭🇺 Hungarian Potato Pancakes (Tócsni / Krumplilángos)

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 1 egg
  • 2–3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare mixture:
    Place grated potatoes in a clean towel and squeeze out excess liquid.
    In a bowl, combine potatoes, onion, egg, flour, salt, pepper, and garlic.
  2. Heat oil:
    Heat a thin layer of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Fry pancakes:
    Spoon mixture into pan and flatten slightly.
    Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Drain:
    Place on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Serve:

  • With sour cream
  • With grated cheese
  • Or as a side to meat dishes
