Rakott Krumpli (Hungarian Layered Potatoes)

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
  • 200 g smoked sausage or cooked ham, sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 100 g grated cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Slice boiled potatoes into 1 cm thick rounds.
  3. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  4. Layer potatoes, eggs, and sausage, seasoning lightly with salt, pepper, and paprika between layers.
  5. Spread sour cream over each layer.
  6. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with potatoes on top.
  7. Optional: sprinkle grated cheese on top.
  8. Bake 25–30 minutes until heated through and golden on top.
  9. Serve warm.
