
Hungarian Hangover Soup (Korhelyleves) – Recipe Only
Ingredients:
- 200 g smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 tbsp oil or lard
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp sweet paprika
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 cups water or broth
- 1 cup sauerkraut (rinsed if very sour)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp flour
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot, sauté onion until soft.
- Add sausage and cook lightly.
- Stir in paprika, garlic, caraway seeds, and bay leaf.
- Add water/broth and sauerkraut; simmer 20 minutes.
- Mix sour cream with flour, stir into soup.
- Simmer 5 more minutes, season to taste, and serve hot.
