Hungarian Chili Bean Stew (Chilis Bab)

Ingredients

  • 400 g ground meat (beef or mixed)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can white beans or chickpeas, drained
  • 1 cup sweet corn
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 400 ml crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onion until soft.
  2. Add garlic and bell pepper, cook for 1–2 minutes.
  3. Add ground meat and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Add beans and corn, mix well.
  7. Simmer for another 15–20 minutes until thick and flavorful.
  8. Serve hot with cooked rice.
