Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 packet (7 g) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup milk, warm
  • 2 egg yolks
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Pinch of salt

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups ground walnuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup apricot jam

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tbsp sugar; let foam 10 minutes.
    • Mix flour, sugar, salt, egg yolks, and melted butter. Add yeast mixture and knead into a smooth dough.
    • Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  2. Assemble the Cake:
    • Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
    • Divide dough into 3 equal parts. Roll out the first layer and place in a greased baking pan.
    • Spread half of the apricot jam over the dough, then sprinkle half of the ground walnuts.
    • Roll out the second dough layer, place on top, and repeat with remaining jam and walnuts.
    • Cover with the third dough layer.
  3. Bake:
    • Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely.
  4. Add Chocolate Glaze:
    • Melt chocolate with butter and pour over the cooled cake.
    • Let set, then cut into squares or rectangles.
