
Cottage Cheese Dumplings (Túrógombóc)
Ingredients
- 2 cups cottage cheese (dry curd or well-drained)
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup semolina
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
Coating
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Sugar, to taste
- Optional: sour cream or powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Mix cottage cheese, eggs, semolina, flour, and salt until combined.
- Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a gentle boil.
- Form mixture into balls and cook until they float, then simmer 2–3 minutes more.
- Toast breadcrumbs in butter until golden.
- Roll cooked dumplings in breadcrumbs and sprinkle with sugar.
