Ingredients (Makes about 30–35 cookies)

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (225 g) cold butter, cubed

  • ½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar or 1 tsp vanilla powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough
    Mix flour, ground nuts, powdered sugar, and salt.
    Cut in cold butter and add vanilla.
    Knead quickly into a smooth dough.
  2. Chill
    Wrap dough and refrigerate 30–60 minutes.
  3. Shape Cookies
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Take small pieces of dough, roll into short logs, and bend into crescent (kifli) shapes.
  4. Bake
    Place on lined baking sheet.
    Bake 12–15 minutes until set but still pale.
  5. Coat
    While warm, gently roll cookies in vanilla sugar mixture.

  • Do not overbake—kifli must stay light.
