🛒 Ingredients
- 12 oz (340 g) egg noodles or wide noodles
- 1 medium green cabbage, finely shredded
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 4–5 tbsp butter or bacon fat (traditional)
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper (generous)

- Cook the noodles
Boil noodles in salted water until al dente.
Drain and set aside. - Caramelize the cabbage
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt butter or bacon fat over medium heat.
Add onion and cook until soft and lightly golden. - Add cabbage
Stir in shredded cabbage and a good pinch of salt.
Cook slowly, stirring often, for 20–30 minutes until cabbage is soft, sweet, and deeply golden. - Combine
Add cooked noodles to the cabbage mixture.
Toss well and cook together 2–3 minutes. - Season
Add plenty of black pepper and adjust salt to taste.
