- 8 cups beef broth

- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp sugar (helps caramelize onions)
For serving (optional but classic):
- Baguette slices, toasted
- Gruyère or Swiss cheese, shredded

- Brown the short ribs
Season short ribs with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
Brown ribs on all sides. Remove and set aside. - Caramelize the onions
