
Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes

Beef & Gravy
- 1½ lb beef chuck or stew beef, cut into chunks
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- Optional: 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
Mashed Potatoes
- 2 lb potatoes, peeled and cubed
- ½ cup milk (warm)
- 3 tbsp butter
- Salt & pepper, to taste

Make the Beef & Gravy
- Heat oil in a large pot or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season beef with salt and pepper, then brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in beef broth to avoid lumps.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, paprika, mushrooms (if using), and return beef to the pan.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is tender and gravy thickens.
Make the Mashed Potatoes
- Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (15–20 minutes).
- Drain well and mash with butter and warm milk.
- Season with salt and pepper until creamy and smooth.
🍽 Serve
Spoon creamy mashed potatoes onto plates and top generously with beef and gravy. Serve hot.
