
Hungarian Kifli Cookies (Vaníliás Kifli) 🇭🇺🌙
Ingredients
- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (120 g) finely ground walnuts (or almonds)
- Pinch of salt
For Coating
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla)
Instructions
- Make the dough
- Cream butter and powdered sugar until light.
- Mix in vanilla and salt.
- Add flour and ground nuts. Mix until soft dough forms.
- Shape
- Take small pieces and roll into crescents (kifli shape).
- Bake
- Bake at 170°C / 340°F for 12–15 minutes until just set (not brown).
- Coat
- While warm, gently roll cookies in powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar.
- Cool
- Let cool completely before serving.
