Omlós Teasütemény (Old-Fashioned)

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups (315 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or vanilla sugar)
  • Pinch of salt

Optional

  • Jam (apricot or plum)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg yolks, vanilla, and salt.
  4. Gradually add flour and mix just until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into small balls or logs, or press into simple shapes.
  6. Place on baking sheet and gently flatten slightly.
  7. Bake 12–15 minutes until set but still pale (do not brown).
  8. Cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar or sandwich with jam if desired.

  • Omlós” means crumbly and tender — don’t overmix
