Vaníliás Kifli

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, cold & cubed
  • ½ cup (60 g) finely ground walnuts (or almonds)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For Coating

  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar (or extra vanilla extract)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ground nuts, powdered sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter and vanilla until a soft dough forms.
  4. Take small portions of dough and shape into crescent (kifli) shapes.
  5. Place on baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes, just until set (do not brown).
  6. While warm, gently roll cookies in vanilla sugar–powdered sugar mixture.
  7. Cool completely.

Tips

  • Handle gently—they’re very delicate
  • Traditionally made at Christmas 🎄
  • Melt-in-your-mouth texture 🇭🇺💛
