📝 Ingredients
Meatloaf
- 1 kg (2 lb) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Mashed Potatoes
- 1 kg (2 lb) potatoes, peeled and cubed
- ½ cup milk or cream
- 3 tablespoons butter
- Salt to taste
Gravy
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- Salt & pepper to taste
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare the meatloaf
Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
In a bowl, mix all meatloaf ingredients until just combined.
Press evenly into a greased baking dish. - Bake
Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, until cooked through. - Make the mashed potatoes
Boil potatoes until tender.
Drain, mash with butter, milk, and salt until creamy. - Top the meatloaf
Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the cooked meatloaf.
Return to oven for 10–15 minutes until lightly golden. - Prepare the gravy
Melt butter in a pan, stir in flour for 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in beef broth.
Simmer until thickened. Season to taste. - Serve
Slice generously and pour warm gravy over the top.
