1. Make the dough
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
- Add eggs and start mixing.
- Gradually add water until you get a soft, sticky dough (thicker than pancake batter but looser than bread dough).
2. Boil water
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
3. Form the dumplings
- Use a spaetzle maker, colander, or spoon to drop small pieces of dough into the boiling water.
4. Cook
- Once the dumplings float to the top, cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon.
5. Finish
- Toss with a little butter or oil to prevent sticking.
