🇭🇺 Hungarian Custard Slice (Krémes)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Bake puff pastry sheets at 200°C until golden and crisp. Cool completely.
  2. Heat milk in a pot (save a little cold milk).
  3. Whisk eggs, sugar, flour/cornstarch, vanilla, and cold milk.
  4. Slowly add to hot milk and cook until thick custard forms.
  5. Let custard cool slightly (but still spreadable).
  6. Spread custard over one pastry sheet.
  7. Cover with second pastry sheet.
  8. Chill 4–6 hours until set.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
