🇭🇺 Hungarian Chicken Paprikas with Spaetzle (Csirkepaprikás Nokedlivel)

Chicken Paprikas:

  1. Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the chopped onion until soft.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in paprika quickly (so it doesn’t burn), then add chicken pieces and mix well.
  3. Add tomato, green pepper, garlic, salt, and pepper. Pour in water or broth.
  4. Cover and simmer on low heat for 35–45 minutes until the chicken is tender.
  5. In a bowl, mix sour cream with flour. Add a few spoonfuls of hot sauce to temper it.
  6. Stir the mixture back into the pot and cook for another 5–10 minutes until creamy.

Spaetzle (Nokedli):

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, eggs, water, and salt into a soft, sticky dough.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
  3. Drop small pieces of dough into the water using a spoon or spaetzle maker.
  4. Cook until they float to the surface (2–3 minutes), then remove and drain.
