    Beat egg yolks with half the sugar and vanilla until creamy.
  2. In another bowl, beat egg whites with salt, then gradually add remaining sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gently fold egg whites into yolks, then fold in flour.

    Divide batter into 5–6 thin portions.
  2. Spread each into a thin circle and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 6–8 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Let cool completely.

    Beat butter with powdered sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add melted chocolate and vanilla, mixing until smooth.

  1. Assemble cake:
    Layer sponge sheets with chocolate buttercream.
  2. Cover the sides with remaining cream.

  1. Caramel topping:
    Melt sugar until golden.
  2. Pour over the top layer and spread quickly.
  3. Score into slices before it hardens.
