
Zserbó Szelet (Hungarian Gerbeaud Slice) – Recipe Only
Ingredients – Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter, cold
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup milk, lukewarm
- 1 packet (7 g) dry yeast
- Pinch of salt
Ingredients – Filling:
- 1 1/2 cups ground walnuts
- 3/4 cup apricot jam
- 1/2 cup sugar
Ingredients – Chocolate Glaze:
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions:
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar; let foam.
- Mix flour, sugar, salt, and butter until crumbly.
- Add egg yolks and yeast mixture; knead into soft dough.
- Divide dough into 3 equal parts.
- Roll first layer into a baking pan. Spread half the jam, sprinkle half the walnuts mixed with sugar.
- Add second dough layer; repeat filling.
- Cover with third dough layer.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–40 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
- Melt chocolate with butter, spread on top. Let set, then slice.
