Zserbó Szelet (Hungarian Gerbeaud Cake)


Instructions

  1. Mix yeast with warm milk and a little sugar, let rest 10 minutes.
  2. Combine flour, butter, sugar, salt, egg yolks, and yeast mixture to form dough.
  3. Divide dough into 3–4 parts.
  4. Roll first layer into a baking pan.
  5. Spread apricot jam and sprinkle walnuts mixed with sugar.
  6. Add next dough layer and repeat filling.
  7. Finish with a top dough layer.
  8. Let rest 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–40 minutes until golden.
  10. Melt chocolate with butter/oil and spread over cooled cake.
  11. Let set, then cut into small squares.
