Zserbó Szelet (Hungarian Gerbeaud Cake) 🇭🇺


Instructions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a little sugar; let foam.
  2. Mix flour, butter, sugar, egg yolks, and salt. Add yeast mixture and knead into a smooth dough.
  3. Divide dough into 3 equal parts and let rest 30 minutes.
  4. Mix ground walnuts with sugar.
  5. Roll out first dough layer and place in a greased baking pan.
  6. Spread half of the apricot jam, then sprinkle half of the walnut mixture.
  7. Add second dough layer, repeat jam and walnuts.
  8. Place final dough layer on top.
  9. Prick the top with a fork and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes.
  10. Let cool completely.
  11. Melt chocolate with oil, spread over the top evenly.
  12. Allow chocolate to set, then cut into squares.
