
Instructions
1. Make the cake batter
- Beat egg yolks + sugar until pale and creamy.
- Add butter + vanilla → mix well.
- In another bowl, mix flour + baking powder + ground walnuts.
- Add dry mixture to yolk mixture.
- Whip egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks.
- Gently fold egg whites into batter.
2. Bake
- Pour into greased, floured cake pan (22–24 cm).
- Bake at 170°C / 340°F for 30–35 minutes.
- Cool completely.
3. Make the walnut filling (optional)
Mix:
- Ground walnuts
- Butter
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla
- Milk/rum (just enough to make spreadable)
4. Assemble
Slice cake into two layers.
Spread walnut filling inside and/or on top.
Dust with powdered sugar or add chocolate glaze if desired.
