
👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Prepare the Base:
- Heat lard or oil in a large pot.
- Sauté onions until soft and lightly golden.
- Remove from heat, stir in paprika (to avoid bitterness).
- Return to heat and add beef cubes. Sear until browned.
2. Build the Flavor:
- Add garlic, caraway seeds, tomato, and bell pepper.
- Stir well and cook for a few minutes.
3. Add Liquid & Simmer:
- Pour in water/broth to fully cover the meat.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer gently, covered, for 1–1.5 hours until beef is tender.
4. Add Vegetables:
- Add carrots, parsnips, and potatoes.
- Simmer for another 20–30 minutes, until vegetables are soft.
5. Finish the Dish:
- If using, add csipetke (small homemade pinched dumplings) in the last 10 minutes of cooking.
- Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
🍽️ Serve With:
- Fresh crusty bread
- A dollop of sour cream (optional)
- Hungarian pickles or cucumber salad on the side
