
Ingredients
Dough
- 500 g flour
- 200 g butter
- 80 g sugar
- 1 egg
- 20 g fresh yeast (or 7 g dry yeast)
- 100 ml warm milk
- pinch of salt
Filling
- 300 g ground walnuts
- 200 g sugar
- 300 g apricot jam
Chocolate Glaze
- 150 g dark chocolate
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a little sugar and let sit 10 minutes.
- Mix flour, butter, sugar, egg, salt and yeast mixture. Knead into smooth dough.
- Divide dough into 3–4 equal parts.
- Roll first dough layer and place in baking pan.
- Spread apricot jam, then sprinkle walnut and sugar mixture.
- Repeat layers until dough is used, finishing with dough on top.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes.
- Let cool.
- Melt chocolate with oil/butter and spread over the cake.
- When glaze sets, cut into rectangles.
This is one of the most famous traditional Hungarian cakes.
