Ingredients

  • 500 g flour
  • 250 ml warm milk
  • 50 g butter (soft)
  • 25 g fresh yeast (or 7 g dry yeast)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let sit 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl mix flour and salt. Add butter and yeast mixture.
  3. Knead into a soft dough. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
  4. Divide dough into 2–3 balls.
  5. Roll each ball into a large circle and cut into triangles.
  6. Roll each triangle from the wide end to make a crescent shape.
  7. Place on a baking tray and let rest 20 minutes.
  8. Brush with beaten egg.
  9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden.

Optional: sprinkle sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or salt on top before baking.
