
🍯 Sweet Yeast Dumplings (Aranygaluska)
Ingredients (Dough)
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml warm milk
- 25 g fresh yeast (or 7 g dry yeast)
- 60 g sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 80 g melted butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar (optional)
Walnut Coating
- 150 g ground walnuts
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
For Dipping & Serving
- 100 g melted butter
- Vanilla custard (for serving)
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar. Let it foam (10 min).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, egg yolks, yeast mixture, and melted butter.
- Knead until soft and smooth. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Mix ground walnuts with sugar (and cinnamon if using).
- Tear off walnut-size pieces of dough.
- Dip each piece in melted butter, then roll in walnut sugar.
- Place loosely in a buttered baking dish.
- Cover and let rise again 20 minutes.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes, until golden.
Serve warm with vanilla custard 🤍
