🥩 Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy

Ingredients

Salisbury Steaks

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika

Onion Gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Make the patties
    In a bowl, mix all steak ingredients until just combined.
    Shape into 4–5 oval patties.
  2. Brown the steaks
    Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil.
    Brown patties 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the onions
    In the same skillet, add butter and onions.
    Cook until soft and golden.
  4. Make the gravy
    Sprinkle flour over onions, stir 1 minute.
    Slowly add beef broth, stirring constantly.
    Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer
    Return patties to the skillet.
    Cover and simmer 15–20 minutes until cooked through and gravy thickens.
