🌭🥔 Polish Sausage, Sauerkraut & Potatoes
🛒 Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) Polish sausage (kielbasa), sliced
- 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled & cubed
- 2 cups sauerkraut, drained (rinse lightly if very sour)
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter or oil
- ½ cup chicken broth or water
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 bay leaf (optional)
- Salt (only if needed)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Boil potatoes in salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced sausage and brown lightly on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté onion until soft.
- Add sauerkraut, paprika, pepper, bay leaf, and broth.
- Simmer 10 minutes.
- Add potatoes and sausage back to the pan.
- Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes, stirring gently.
- Taste and adjust seasoning.
