🥣 Instructions
1️⃣ Mix the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm water and stir until a shaggy, sticky dough forms.
- Cover with plastic wrap or a clean towel.
- Let rise at room temperature 12–18 hours, until bubbly and doubled in size.
2️⃣ Shape the Dough
- Lightly flour a surface and hands.
- Gently fold the dough over itself a couple of times — do not knead.
- Let rest 15–30 minutes while you preheat the oven.
3️⃣ Bake
- Preheat oven to 450°F / 230°C with a Dutch oven or heavy oven-safe pot inside.
- Carefully transfer dough into the hot pot (use parchment paper for easier handling).
- Cover with lid and bake 30 minutes.
- Remove lid and bake 10–15 more minutes until golden brown and crusty.
4️⃣ Cool
- Remove bread and cool on a wire rack at least 1 hour before slicing.
💡 Tips
- Use a Dutch oven for the best crust.
- Don’t skip the long rise — that’s what gives flavor and texture.
- Experiment with mix-ins: herbs, olives, cheese, or seeds.
- Store in a paper bag at room temperature for 2–3 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
