Layered Green Pepper and Sausage Casserole (Rakott Zöldpaprika)

Ingredients

  • 4–5 green bell peppers, sliced
  • 300 g smoked Hungarian sausage (kolbász), sliced
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, sauté onion until soft. Add sausage and cook briefly.
  3. Stir in paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  4. Layer half of the peppers in the dish, add half of the rice, then half of the sausage mixture.
  5. Repeat layers and finish with sour cream on top.
  6. Cover and bake for 30–35 minutes until peppers are tender.
  7. Uncover and bake 5 more minutes. Serve warm.
