
Instructions:
- Prepare the Jalapeños:
- Slice jalapeños into thin rings (“bottle cap” style).
- Remove seeds if you want them less spicy, or keep them in for more heat.
- Soak:
- Place slices in buttermilk and let sit for at least 20 minutes (this mellows the heat and helps coating stick).
- Coating:
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge & Fry:
- Heat oil in a deep pan (350°F / 175°C).
- Take jalapeño slices from buttermilk, coat them well in seasoned flour, and fry in small batches.
- Fry until golden brown and crispy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve:
- Enjoy hot with ranch, chipotle mayo, or cheese dip!
