Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions 🥩🧅🔥

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 bell peppers (green or mixed colors), sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Marinade

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Sauce

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix steak with marinade. Let sit 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  3. Add steak in a single layer and sear quickly, 1–2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry 2–3 minutes until slightly tender but crisp.
  5. Stir sauce ingredients together and pour into the pan. Cook until thickened.
  6. Return steak to the pan and toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until sizzling and glossy.

🍚 Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
