1. Prepare the Cake
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Beat egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks with sugar and vanilla until pale and fluffy.
- Gently fold in ground walnuts and flour.
- Carefully fold in the egg whites until combined.
- Pour batter into a greased and lined springform pan.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely.
2. Make the Syrup
- In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, and vanilla.
- Heat until sugar dissolves.
- Brush syrup over the cooled cake layers to keep them moist.
3. Prepare the Frosting
- Beat butter with powdered sugar until creamy.
- Mix in ground walnuts and vanilla.
- Spread frosting between cake layers and on top.
4. Serve
- Garnish with extra walnuts if desired.
- Chill for 1–2 hours before serving for best flavor.

- For a richer flavor, toast the walnuts lightly before grinding.
