Hungarian Style Goulash🇭🇺..-

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Sauté the Base:

  • In a large pot, heat lard/oil.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden.
  • Remove from heat briefly — stir in paprika (this prevents it from burning).
  • Add beef, stir to coat, then return to heat and cook until browned on all sides.

2. Build the Soup:

  • Add garlic, caraway seeds, tomato, and bell pepper.
  • Pour in water or broth, enough to cover.
  • Simmer on low for 1–1.5 hours, until beef is tender.

3. Add Vegetables:

  • Toss in carrots, parsnips, and potatoes.
  • Simmer another 30 minutes until vegetables are soft.

4. Optional Csipetke (Pinched Noodles):

  • Mix 1 egg with enough flour and salt to form a stiff dough.
  • Pinch off small pieces and add them to the soup in the last 10 minutes of cooking.

🍽️ Serve With:

  • Rustic bread or crusty rolls
  • Pickled hot peppers or cucumber salad
  • A spoonful of sour cream (optional, but some love it!)
