👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Sauté the Base:
- In a large pot, heat lard/oil.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden.
- Remove from heat briefly — stir in paprika (this prevents it from burning).
- Add beef, stir to coat, then return to heat and cook until browned on all sides.
2. Build the Soup:
- Add garlic, caraway seeds, tomato, and bell pepper.
- Pour in water or broth, enough to cover.
- Simmer on low for 1–1.5 hours, until beef is tender.
3. Add Vegetables:
- Toss in carrots, parsnips, and potatoes.
- Simmer another 30 minutes until vegetables are soft.
4. Optional Csipetke (Pinched Noodles):
- Mix 1 egg with enough flour and salt to form a stiff dough.
- Pinch off small pieces and add them to the soup in the last 10 minutes of cooking.
🍽️ Serve With:
- Rustic bread or crusty rolls
- Pickled hot peppers or cucumber salad
- A spoonful of sour cream (optional, but some love it!)
